Prices

Prices are grouped by the number of characters before the extension. Registration and renewal are charged per year. The restore fee is charged once per restoration, in addition to renewal.

Some individual names carry their own premium price, shown when you check them. Prices may change; an order is charged at the price shown when it is placed.

Registration Period and Grace Periods

Registration and renewal: 1 to 10 years per order
Renewal after expiry: 30 days at the renewal price
Redemption period: 30 days; restoring costs the restore fee plus the renewal price
Pending delete: 5 days, then the name is released
DNSSEC: Supported. DS records can be added on the domain's page.

Naming Rules

1 to 63 characters before the extension.
Letters a to z, digits 0 to 9 and the hyphen (-). Letters are not case-sensitive.
No hyphen as the first or last character, and no two hyphens in a row.
Names beginning with xn-- (internationalized names) are not accepted.
Some names are reserved and cannot be registered, and some carry a premium price. A search shows both.

Additional Rules

Names under .edu.ax are open to any registrant. A name under this extension does not show that its holder is an educational institution, is accredited, or is connected with any school. A .edu.ax domain, its subdomains and email addresses under it must not be used to:

present a website or service as that of a university, college, school or other educational institution, or as connected with one, when it is not, including an institution that does not exist;
claim student, staff or institutional status in order to obtain discounts, free or reduced-price products or services, verification, or any other benefit offered to education.

If we find such use, we suspend or delete the domain without refund and may disable the account.

HTTPS

edu.ax is on the HSTS preload list built into major browsers, with all its subdomains. Browsers therefore open every name registered under edu.ax over HTTPS only, even when a visitor types an http:// address.

A website on these names needs a valid TLS certificate. Without one, browsers refuse to open the site, and visitors cannot choose to ignore the error and continue.
